Case Studies

These case studies are designed to point you towards the best sample preparation, data acquisition and processing methods for different biological questions.

Cryo-electron microscopy encompasses a range of methods that can be used to answer a whole host of biological questions. In these pages we have written a series of case studies to illustrate the types of biological question that can be tackled, and to give users an insight into the practicalities of each method.

We focus on single particle and tomography data collection, as these are the most widely used. For more information on electron diffraction methods, please see 'which technique for you', or contact a member of the EM facility.

Please bear in mind that every project presents its own unique challenges, and the case studies here act as a guide only. For further information, or tailored advice on how to use cryo-electron microscopy in your research, please contact a member of facility staff.
