Masters programmes

Are you looking for a challenge? Are you looking for an opportunity to undertake world-class science that spans the traditional disciplinary boundaries? We are seeking excellent students to join a number of prestigious Doctoral and Masters Degree programmes within this buoyant and dynamic research centre.

Staff of the Astbury Centre are associated with a number of Masters programmes

  • MSc in Chemical Biology
Scholarships are available for both UK/EU and international applicants for the first taught MSc degree in Chemical Biology in the UK. The course bridges the widening gap between undergraduate degrees and genuinely interdisciplinary research in chemical biology. The course focuses on how key chemical techniques and methodologies can be used to solve important biological problems, and will leave students ideally placed to undertake genuinely interdisciplinary research in either academia or industry. For more details, see www.chembio.leeds.ac.uk
  • MRes in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
The course is suitable for graduates in any scientific discipline, including biology, mathematics and computer science, and offers different initial modules depending on the knowledge base of the student. The course covers computer programming, the use of bioinformatics software to analyse sequences and structures, and the statistical analysis of biological data (including microarrays and other omics data). Research project work accounts for 50% of the course, and projects can be done internally in Leeds or externally in industry or other institutions.
