Prof Simon Phillips
Simon Phillips was Astbury Professor of Biophysics in the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology from 1996 until 2008. In 2008, he became the first Director of the Research Complex at Harwell. He obtained his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from University College London in 1971 and 1974. He joined the academic staff of the University of Leeds in 1986 following postdoctoral work at the University of British Columbia (Canada) and staff scientist positions at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (Cambridge) and the Institut Pasteur (Paris). Simon is a Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds, and maintains his links with the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology as a Visiting Member.
