Astbury Early Career Researcher Forum

The Astbury Early Career Researchers Group. We are a group of postdocs from across the physical science departments coming together under the Astbury banner for networking, collaborative projects, career development and general support.

Welcome to the Astbury Early Career Researcher Forum Website! We are a group of postdocs from across the physical science departments coming together under the Astbury banner for networking, collaborative projects, career development and general support. We aim to provide a real "forum" environment, allowing members to freely interact with like-minded people facing similar challenges. This may be a simple as asking for links to fellowship opportunities, or as complex as asking for assistance with a scientific problem.

Our core goals are to:

  • Facilitate networking between postdocs
  • Encourage collaborative and multidisciplinary research programs
  • Highlight career development opportunities
  • Integrate postdocs activities with the wider Astbury research community
  • Promote discussion on all aspects of postdocs' life

What we offer:

We organise quarterly events focusing on career development opportunities, as well as ad-hoc lectures and some social events. In the spirit of a classical forum, if anyone has a conference / interview / seminar that they need to prepare for, and would like a test audience for practise then please contact AstburyECR@leeds.ac.uk with a title, a small abstract and any other details you think are relevant. We will then advertise this to our members or, if requested, contact specified academics on your behalf. Hopefully we can all help one another to move our careers forward together!
